MASTERWORKS: A Contemporary Glass Auction An auction of 41 studio glass works from the 1970s and beyond Thursday April 23rd, 2015 - 7:30pm Auction Preview April 23rd 12:00 - 7:30 pm This auction represents a wide range of artists, 9 of which have not been in our previous 14 auctions. When reviewing these works, we are once again impacted by the many ideas and the great diversity that glass has afforded so many artists. As we have been doing auctions involving glass, our first in 1993, we are proud of the amazing number of truly significant works that we have auctioned. This year we bring you many sculptures that are known for being seminal pieces in each artist’s body of work. A look at the current direction of Contemporary Glass Art
(Latest U.S. Departure September 1, 2015)
*This custom-designed educational art tour concentrates on important established and emerging contemporary artists working with glass in the Czech Republic. The intent is to immerse the group in the Czech aesthetic of glass making by looking at the history of the European contemporary glass movement and viewing how it has continued to evolve.
Itinerary Inclusions:
The itinerary is centered in this medieval city and out into the
countryside. Planned visits include a new Regional
Glass Symposium, to a selection of working glass studios-some with
demonstrations, entry into private collections, museum exhibitions- plus
“behind-the-scenes” peeks, artists’ lectures, and special gallery exhibits and
receptions.
